Ovis was born on Fårö, a small island in the Baltic Sea known for its rugged coastline, open landscapes and free-roaming sheep. The name Ovis comes from the Latin word for sheep — a tribute to the place where it all began. Founded by Peter Sjöholm, who grew up on Fårö, the brand is shaped by a childhood spent by the sea — surfing, skating and finding inspiration in the island's raw nature, quiet beauty and slower pace of life. The Ovis logo also carries a piece of Fårö within it. One autumn day, while walking along Sudersand beach, Peter photographed the natural lines and patterns left in the sand by the sea. The image stayed with him for years, along with a desire to turn it into something creative. One of his dreams was to create a brand and let those lines become its symbol. Eventually, that photograph became the Ovis logo.
